COUNSELLING SERVICES

Life is hard, and we all need to reach out for help sometimes.  

Hi there, I am Ann-Marie Covert, MSW, RSW - Founder of Mindjoy Counselling & Training.

I offer Psychotherapy, as well as Christian faith-integrated Psychotherapy. 

I tend to support people who are struggling with anxiety, feeling disconnected from themselves and from others, who have lost their sense of purpose, or are burned out. 

I also work with many Ministry Leaders, if you are a Pastor or Youth Worker who is struggling.  

Working in the field since 2006, I have seen a lot of what does help people, and what doesn't.  I have specialized my practice to focus on nervous system regulation and healing from shame, because I truly believe these are the roots of most mental health issues.

WHO MINDJOY CAN HELP: ​

​Anyone age 18 to 118 who is struggling with their mental health.   No diagnosis is required.  Let's chat and see if I am the right fit for you.

Appointment availability is provided when booking online; you can book directly in my calendar. 

MINDJOY is not a crisis service, and if you need help immediately, please contact your local crisis line (Google "crisis line near me"). 

FEES:

Counselling sessions are $135.00 for individuals and $150.00 for couples.  There is no tax. 

Payment can be made by credit card, cheque, PayPal, or e-transfer.

If you have insurance/benefit coverage for Counselling, Psychotherapy, or MSW Social Work Services, then you would be able to submit receipts from our sessions for reimbursement.

Some people are able to receive subsidy through their church, this may be worth exploring if it applies to you.  

If you don't have coverage, you may be able to claim Psychotherapy on your income taxes.

Sliding scale spots are full at this time. 

CONFIDENTIALITY

My services are confidential.  I am bound by privacy legislation, by the College of Social Work, and by my own values.  

Please note that if you use email to to contact me, please provide limited personal information.  While we hope email is generally secure, I recommend not providing any of your sensitive personal information and to keep the content related to asking questions or booking a session.  

I use "Jane" software to book appointments, and Jane has privacy protocols and encryption similar to banking software.

OVERALL APPROACH (to give you a sense of who I am and my style):

​I am very passionate about helping people recover, be well, and reach their full potential.  My hope is to help people thrive, and have a full and satisfying life. 

​I use a "bottom-up" approach: 

focusing on body, heart, and mind.

I help people release stored emotional stress from their body, learn how to process emotions in a healthy way, and work on any belief systems that may be harming you.


Together we would look at the whole picture:  this could include things such as diet and exercise, sleep patterns, current living environment, work experiences, financial strain, genetics, biology, spirituality, thinking patterns, family and relationship dynamics, attachment styles, toxic stress, and trauma.

EXPERIENCE & CREDENTIALS

I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and since 2006 I have counselled hundreds of individuals with mental health conditions and their families.  

I have also been a mental health Program Manager, managing youth and adult mental health programs and providing clinical supervision to other clinicians. 

I have certificate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Concurrent Disorders/Relapse Prevention.

​I also have training in Somatic Experiencing, Nervous System Regulation, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Attachment Theory, and Family Systems.
